Selsey Inshore Lifeboat Tows Angling Boat

Angling Boat

UK Coastguard requested that the Selsey RNLI inshore Lifeboat (ILB) be launched after a report of three people aboard a 13-foot angling boat who were having trouble starting their engine.

The boat was reported to be 200 metres off of the beach at the end of West Street, Selsey. The ILB launched at 7.35 p.m. with three volunteer crew and were quickly on scene at 7.40 p.m. A line was passed to the vessel and they recovered their anchor before the ILB towed them back to their moorings at East Beach, Selsey.

At 8.25 p.m. the angling boat was secured to its moorings and the three people made their own way ashore and were met by the Selsey Coastguard team. The ILB returned to station at 8.30 p.m. and was washed down, refuelled and ready for service by 8.45 p.m.

The weather was calm and very hot in the sunshine.

CREW: Will Moir (Helmsman), Andy Lee and Harry Emmence.
