Selsey Inshore Lifeboat Launches to Rescue a Swimmer

The second call of the day came at 9.54 p.m. when the UK Coastguard paged for the immediate launch of the inshore Lifeboat (ILB).

They had reports of a person in the sea off of Hillfield Rd, Selsey. The ILB launched at 10.01 p.m., made best speed to the casualty and quickly located the person with the help of Selsey Coastguard team.

The person was recovered to the ILB and taken ashore to the Coastguard team who cared for the person until the arrival of an ambulance. The weather was a calm, warm night with good visibility. At 10.09 p.m. the ILB departed the scene, returned to the station at 10.14 p.m., was washed down and made ready for service again by 10.30 p.m.
