Selsey Inshore Lifeboat Recovers Empty Kayak

The RNLI inshore Lifeboat was requested to launch by the UK Coastguard who had received calls about an unmanned kayak off of Pagham.

The inshore Lifeboat, 'Betty and Thomas Moore', launched at 9.40 a.m. and was on scene at 10.09 a.m., quickly locating the kayak. The weather on scene was wind westerly force 2 smooth sea in sunshine.

The lifeboat returned to Selsey with the kayak and was rehoused at 10.30 a.m.

(NOTE: The UK Coastguard try to recover unmanned and drifting craft in case members of the public attempt to recover them putting lives at risk, also to prevent further emergency calls and searches for people possibly in the water.)
