Selsey RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Responds to Hoax Call

Uk Coastguard received an emergency phone call reporting a 14-year old boy on an inflatable was drifting out to sea.

The 'D' class lifeboat launched at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday 30th June and made best speed to the Bill Point. The weather on scene was wind easterly force 4-5 sea state slight in sun shine. The Selsey Coastguard team were also tasked and on arrival at the beach were approached by a youth who said his brother and friends had called the Coastguards for a joke.

The inshore lifeboat was released and returned to station at 6.46 p.m.
