Selsey All-Weather Lifeboat Launched to Assist Yacht

Haven Star

The Selsey RNLI all-weather Shannon class Lifeboat launched at 5.26 p.m. on Tuesday 26th February after the 35-foot yacht, 'Haven Star', reported that they had engine failure and were unable to sail.

The 'Haven Star' had three persons aboard and gave their position as 3 miles east of Selsey Bill. The Lifeboat, 'Denise and Eric', arrived on scene with the yacht at 5.36 p.m. and, after confirming all on board were well, a line was passed to the vessel. A tow was established between the Lifeboat and the yacht and a course was set for Littlehampton Harbour. The weather on scene was wind east south east force 3 sea state smooth in sunshine.

The entrance to the Harbour was reached at 6.50 p.m. and at 7.10 p.m. the 'Haven Star' was safely berthed alongside. 'Denise and Eric' departed Littlehampton and made the journey back to Selsey arriving at 8.10 p.m. and rehousing straight away.
