ILB at Pagham Harbour ILB at Pagham Harbour

The 'D' class Lifeboat launched at 3.36 p.m. on Friday 24th May and headed towards Pagham Harbour where the person was reported to be on an island inside the Harbour.

Pagham Harbour is an RSPB nature reserve and one of their wardens had reported the person cut off on the island which is a nesting area. The Lifeboat located the man at 3.54 p.m. and transported him to meet the Selsey Coastguard team who were waiting at Church Norton. The 36-year-old had decided to walk from Church Norton to Pagham not realising it was tidal and not all of it dries out.

The weather on scene was wind westerly force 2 in sunshine. The inshore Lifeboat was released at 4.00 p.m. and returned to station at 4.25 p.m.

CREW: Colin Pullenger (Helmsman), Pip Skeet and Neil Hopcraft.
