Selsey RNLI 'D' Class Lifeboat Joins Search for Missing Child

The launch request came at 3.11 p.m. on Saturday 1st June after Selsey Coastguard team asked for Lifeboat assistance in the search for a missing 7-year-old at West Wittering beach.

The 'D' class launched at 3.19 p.m. and made best speed to the search area. As the Lifeboat arrived on scene at 3.35 p.m. news came that the child had been found safe and well but there was now another child missing and so the Lifeboat stayed on scene until 3.41 p.m. when the 2nd child was also found safe and well. The weather on scene was wind south easterly 2-3 sea state smooth in sunshine.

The Lifeboat arrived back at station at 4.00 p.m. and was rehoused straight away, refuelled, washed down and made ready for service.
