Selsey RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Tasked to Person in the Water at Bognor Regis

UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Selsey inshore Lifeboat (ILB) at 9.12 p.m. on Sunday 1st September after Sussex police had reported that a man had entered the water at Bognor Regis.

The ILB launched at 9.21 p.m. and made best speed to Barn Rocks off Aldwick to commence a search to the east as far as Feltham as at this stage the police couldn't confirm the position that the man had entered the water. The weather on scene was wind northerly force 2-3 sea state smooth with excellent visibility. Littlehampton and Selsey Coastguard teams were deployed to conduct beach searches.

The ILB continued searching and had completed 3 legs when just before 11.00 p.m. the man was found by one of the teams. The ILB was released at 11.06 p.m. and returned to Selsey.
