Selsey RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat Launched to Person in the Water

Launch Launch

The all-weather Lifeboat (ALB) launched at 11.54 p.m. on Sunday 9th February. The UK Coastguard requested the launch after receiving a call from Sussex police saying a person was believed to have entered the sea at Littlehampton.

The Selsey ALB headed at best speed to the entrance to Littlehampton Harbour. The Coastguard had requested that the Lifeboat search close inshore from the harbour to Angmering-on-Sea. The weather was wind SW force 8-9 Rough sea with good visibility. Littlehampton and Shoreham Coastguard teams were also tasked to carry out a shore search. Shortly after launching all units were stood down after the person had been found.

The ALB arrived back at Selsey at 3.35 a.m. and was beached and rehoused straight away. After washing down and refuelling everyone went back to bed at 4.40 a.m.
