Selsey RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Launched as Safety Cover

The UK Coastguards requested the launch to assist Selsey Coastguard team with safety cover for two persons trying to recover their boat which had broke free from moorings overnight.

The inshore Lifeboat launched at 2.27 p.m. and headed for East Beach where the boat had come ashore. With the tide still rising, the two pesons now in the water, and with breaking waves, the Coastguard team persuaded the owners that it was too dangerous to continue with the attempt. The weather on scene was wind south-westerly force 5 sea state moderate with breaking wave on the shore. The Coastguards helped them remove loose items from the boat before helping to secure the vessel to the groynes.

The inshore Lifeboat was released and returned to station at 2.55 p.m.
