Selsey Lifeboat Station - Launches

1st April 2021

Selsey RNLI Called Out to Persons Cut Off by Tide

The UK Coastguard requested the launch at 1.59 p.m. on Thursday 1st April after receiving information that 3 paddle boarders were in difficulties off of Pagham Yacht Club.

The inshore Lifeboat launched at 2.06 p.m. with 4 RNLI volunteers on board and made best speed to Pagham Harbour entrance. The weather on scene was wind north east force 3-4, sea state moderate in sunshine. At 2.15 p.m. the inshore Lifeboat (ILB) arrived at the entrance to Pagham Harbour and reported that no paddle boarders were sighted and so headed further to the east to search for them.

Selsey and Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRT) were also tasked and, after arriving on scene, Selsey Coastguard spoke to the first informant and other people on the beach who said that the paddle boarders had made it safely back to shore. At 2.27 p.m. the ILB was released by UK Coastguard to return to station. The ILB arrived back at station at 3.08 p.m. and was rehoused, washed down, refuelled and made ready for service.

CREW: Colin Pullenger (Helmsman), Kristina Dolan, Neil Hopcraft and Tim Scott (Trainee).
