The Selsey all-weather Lifeboat (ALB) was tasked by the UK Coastguard after the skipper of a 25-foot motorboat reported by mobile phone that they had machinery failure approximately one mile south of Elmer.

The ALB launched at 6.05 p.m. on Monday 31st May and headed to the position of 7 miles northeast of Selsey. Arriving on scene at 6.28 p.m. the Lifeboat crew confirmed that the two persons onboard the vessel were OK and happy to accept the towline. The weather on scene was wind easterly force 2-3 calm sea in sunshine.

Once the tow was established a course was set for Littlehampton Harbour. At 7.19 p.m. the entrance to the harbour was reached and the vessel was safely berthed alongside with the assistance of the Littlehampton Coastguard team.

At 7.27 p.m. the ALB departed Littlehampton returning to station at 8.00 p.m. and was recovered straight away.

CREW: Colin Pullenger (Coxswain), Andy Lee (Mechanic), James Albrey, Will Moir, Max Wiseman and Kristina Dolan.
