Visit from The Guild of Freemen of the City of London

October 2017

Around fifty members of The Guild of Freemen of the City of London, accompanied by the Master of the Guild, visited the station on 4th October to see the new boathouse and marvel at our Shannon class ALB 'Denise and Eric'. The Guild have been regular visitors for over thirty years. This was an extra special visit in that the Guild donated the beautiful stained glass window in memory of the late Vice Admiral Sir Peter Buchanan, KBE, past master of the Guild and President of Selsey LIfeboat Station from 1997 to 2010.

Fr Andy Wilkes, Rector of St Peter's, Selsey and Lifeboat Chaplain, dedicated the window, giving thanks for the work of the volunteer crews, after which the current Master, Peter Allcard, and Lady Audrey Buchanan unveiled the commemorative plaque.

The Guild members then enjoyed a demonstration of the launch capabilities and recovery of "Denise and Eric".
