Selsey Fireworks Donate £200 to Selsey Lifeboats

February 2019

Elaine Fireworks Presentation The new Chair of the Selsey Lifeboat Fundraising Committee, Elaine Burge, recently undertook her first public engagement since taking on the role in January. The occasion was the annual Selsey Fireworks Presentation held at the Viking Club when money raised from the Selsey Fireworks Display held the previous October is distributed to local charities and community groups.

The venue was beautifully decorated in keeping with 2018's theme of Las Vegas, and this was echoed by entertainment provided by Chichester University Fringe Graduate Company, a wonderful group of young, local performers.

A buffet was also available, so attendees were very well catered for in every way.

When asked about the experience Elaine said "It was amazing. I've never attended this event before, and to do so as a representative of Selsey RNLI Fundraisers was a great honour. I was really nervous but fortunately didn't trip, slip or have any wardrobe malfunctions whilst in my (thankfully) very brief moment in the spotlight when I went up to collect our envelope!"

Elaine was presented with a cheque for £200 from the Fireworks Committee, and another for £50 from Mandy Greenwood who very kindly makes a donation to Selsey Lifeboats every year.

"It was a great experience and I look forward to repeating it next year" said Elaine, "we are extremely grateful to Selsey Fireworks and Selstar for all the hard work they put in to make the Firework Display the success that it is, and to supporting so many good causes."
