Walking Treasure Hunt 2011

This year’s Walking Treasure Hunt started at Hillfield Road car park and led us around the west side of Selsey to the Coastguard Station and back to the Seal Public House, meandering through roads and along footpaths. Keith and Graham were on hand at Marine Beach car park to direct people back to Hillfield Road car park as there was a mistake in the programme…

We were given a stout plastic bag at the start of the walk and told we would be directed to collect something along the way. This turned out to be five pieces of beach rubbish! Steve and Linda Frampton, compilers of the Walking Treasure Hunt and owners of the Mulberry Dive shop, take part, with their Dive Club members, in the International Beach Clean Up Day (which this year is the 17th September) and so this was a very sensible thing to ask us to do! There is a photo below of Steve holding the sack of all the rubbish collected on the Walking Treasure Hunt.

153 people, dogs and children in 43 teams took part in the treasure Hunt this year which was the highest number ever, and £163.34 was raised.

The winners were Lou and Willy Pledger who scored 68½ points.
