Retired Stations Visit Officer Presented with Service Award from the RNLI

Mike Valmas receiving his silver statuette from Paul Taylor

Mike Valmas, who recently retired as Selsey Lifeboat Stations Visits Officer after more than ten years, recently visited RNLI HQ at Poole to be presented with a silver statuette for his long service.

In his own words: "Gail and I spent a couple of nights at the College as the award ceremony was on Sunday afternoon. The actual proceedings were very well organised and I joined about fifty or so others who received various awards. I was presented with my statuette by the mechanic of the Poole Lifeboat, Paul Taylor. Iím deeply touched by being put forward for the award, which is not automatically given, and am most appreciative. As you know, I think we all formed a great team and I thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with Selsey RNLI and feel most privileged to have made so many nice friends."

Mike and his wife, Gail, are sorely missed by us all, and we wish them a long and happy retirement.
