The Fisherman’s Joy Public House hosted a charity Horse Racing Night on Friday 28th June in aid of the Selsey RNLI Fund for the new Lifeboat.
The event, arranged by the Landlord Bruce, Michelle, Mary and their staff, was yet another well orchestrated event from this venue. The race evening saw the eight races pulling in quite a large crowd of excited punters (fortunately not wearing large hats!), some of whom proved to be very generous, with shallow pockets and long arms, and placing serious bets on quite long odds as the evening wore on.
At times it was easy to think you were up on the downs at Goodwood as the races reached their final furlongs and the excitement mounted, with the horses racing neck to neck for the finish line. All this, without any rain falling on the course or punters, to dampen spirits.
In all, the evening raised £295 for the new Lifeboat fund. Many thanks from the host and Selsey RNLI Fund Raising Committee to everyone who attended and contributed to this great evening.
Once again the Selsey Lifeboat Fund Raising Committee would like to thank Bruce for hosting another wonderful evening and kindly donating all profits to the Selsey RNLI Fund for the new Lifeboat.
