A Royal Wedding Lawn Party took place on 29th April at East Beach Road, Selsey, both to celebrate the occasion and support the RNLI. Those who attended contributed £10 per head and after expenses, and with further donations made on the day, a total of £236.30 was raised for the Selsey Lifeboat Station.
It was a wonderful day for all those who attended - some travelling from as far a field as Scotland! Everyone entered into the spirit of the day, dressing up for the occasion, and were very kind and generous with their donations.
The event was organised by Mark McJennett and Beverley Bramwell who were responsible for dressing the lawn, erecting the marquee and arranging tables and chairs kindly donated by Joyce Walker. The bunting (made from old rags donated by neighbours) was arranged with help from friends on East Beach Road. Tina McJennett and Debbie Stallard put together a 3-course menu and in all cooked for 55 guests, with help from friends.
On behalf of Selsey RNLI, Branch Chairman, John Light, accepted the donation from Mark McJennett of East Beach Road, Selsey, and thanked everyone involved for their innovative idea and generous contributions.
