Brothers Martin and Andrew Savory have received framed certificates signed by RNLI Chief Executive Paul Boissier from the Committee of Management thanking them for their dedicated voluntary service of behalf of the RNLI.
Lifeboat Crews quite rightly receive awards and thanks for their voluntary service, but it is not often that such awards are made to fundraisers. During a recent Fundraising Committee meeting, John Light, Chairman of the RNLI Selsey Branch, was therefore delighted to make such an award to two long-standing committee members.
In fact Martin and Andrew’s long service started out with them helping their parents (themselves also long time supporters of the Selsey Lifeboat) in the souvenir shop and in decorating the RNLI floats entered into the Annual Selsey Carnival.
More recently they have been closely associated with the annual Selsey RNLI sponsored walk - leaving home at 6am to mark out the 10-mile walk, and returning later (again walking the 10 miles) to clear away the signage after all the walkers have finished!
Also, each summer, the brothers are out and about again, putting up the signs for the various events held during Selsey’s Lifeboat Week. John Light commented during the recent presentation that “Martin and Andrew can always be relied upon to help wherever and whenever needed both at the start and finish of events”.
Unfortunately Andrew was unable to attend the presentation in person so Martin accepted both certificates from the Chairman – see photo.
