Southern Model Lifeboat Society

On Sunday 17th June 2012 members of the Southern Model Lifeboat Society set up a display of five model lifeboats inside Selsey Lifeboat Station Boathouse. All of the models had been built by Society members, in some cases taking almost three years of dedicated effort. The detail is amazing with tiny working compasses and realistic sound effects. Many of the models are remote controlled for use on a lake. One on display had actually been launched on a previous visit in the sea during Lifeboat Week.

The Society members are huge supporters of the RNLI Lifeboat stations locally. Many Selsey Lifeboat crew were present when, during their visit, they presented Selsey Lifeboat Station with a cheque for 1050 raised by their members to support our lifejacket appeal. The cheque was received with thanks from all the crew.

The Southern Model Lifeboat Society will have a large display on Lifeboat Green Selsey on Sunday 5th August as part of Selsey Lifeboat Station's annual Launch Day
