Selsey Lifeboat Station Stages Another Successful Annual Sponsored Walk

Sunday May 6th 2012

Selsey RNLI Lifeboat Station staged its Annual Sponsored Walk on Sunday 6th May. Unfortunately the weather was dreadful but this did not put off the many hardy souls who took part and once again the event proved to be a hit for all those involved.

Selsey RNLI branch chairman Colvin Rae commented:

"In contrast to last year's glorious sunshine, the sponsored walk on Sunday took place in heavy rain with everyone well wrapped up against the cold. This did not deter the 117 walkers who set off (accompanied by quite a number of our four-legged friends) to cover ten miles in very muddy conditions, and all participants successfully made it to the finish with a fastest time of two and a half hours.

This year all sponsorship monies will be used to provide updated lifejackets for the volunteer crews.

I'd like to thank all who participated as walkers, marshals and organisers to make this another successful fund raising event to support the important work undertaken by all the Selsey lifeboat volunteers.

We hope for better weather next year."

The final figure raised was an amazing £4720, which is even more than last year. Fantastic!!

All those taking part deserve a huge thank you from all of us at Selsey Lifeboat Station for supporting the event to raise significant sums of money given that the RNLI is funded entirely by voluntary contributions.
