As at 20th August 2014 the total raised by the Sponsored Walk is £3,372.40. Fantastic!!
This year saw yet another successful sponsored walk in support of raising funds for Selsey's new Shannon Class all weather Lifeboat which is due in service late 2015.
This year the walk was blessed with a lovely sunny day which made for ideal conditions for the 106 walkers as they made their way around the circular route from the boat house and around to Ham Farm, which included using the new footpaths around the Medmerry re-alignment. These footpaths give great views out across the still-developing salt marsh and out across the Solent. From Ham Farm the walk followed the traditional route up past the water treatment facility and on to Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve. Here the walkers could take a mid-point break making full use of the recently refurbished visitor centre. From the visitor centre the walkers followed the coast around to the Saxon Church at Church Norton continuing on towards the sea wall at the 'Winkle beds'. From here it was a gentle stroll down to the boat house, which never seems to get any closer as you walk towards it! Finally, arriving walkers were presented with their completion certificate and a treat for any four-legged friends who completed the walk.
The event organizer would like to say a particular word of thanks and appreciation to a little girl called Grace for achieving so much. Also to the Chichester Canoe Club for their continued support.
The Fund Raising Committee thanks all who participated and we look forward to your continued support next year.
